Job Description

This opportunity involves leading mechanical engineering projects in power generation at WSP. The role is based in Seattle, WA, with consideration for other locations such as Atlanta, GA, Houston, TX, Boston, MA, Boulder, CO, Chicago, IL, New York, NY, and San Francisco, CA. The candidate will work with our Energy Team to meet client objectives and solve their challenges.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing thermal power generation facilities across the USA in collaboration with clients.
  • Working with cross-disciplinary teams to provide detailed designs and Owner’s Engineer services.
  • Producing or reviewing GT Pro models for project optimization.
  • Assessing facility performance based on technology and climate.
  • Mentoring junior to intermediate colleagues and reviewing their work.
  • Developing processes to improve design deliverables.
  • Making responsible and ethical decisions regarding company resources and conduct, adhering to WSP’s policies.
  • Performing additional duties as required by business needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in thermal power generation.
  • Solution-oriented problem-solving approach.
  • Experience in improving workflow processes and balancing standardization with efficiency.
  • Ability to mentor and support technical development of team members.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in analytical techniques and modeling.
  • Self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Strategic thinking and business development capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Professional work ethic and commitment to safety policies.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering License.
  • Proficiency with gas turbine plant modeling software such as GT Pro.
