Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Membership Director, the Associate Membership Director oversees programs, supervises team members, and provides operational support within the Membership Department. This role manages daily operations, supports team performance, and helps implement strategic plans. Responsibilities include supervising and supporting the Y Kids program, engaging with members at the front desk and on the Wellness floor, providing tours, and supporting membership sales while ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for all. The Associate Membership Director also helps deliver high-quality activities for children ages 12 weeks to 18 years, builds positive relationships with families and caregivers, and serves as a role model for youth and staff in alignment with YMCA values.

  • Support the Membership Director in addressing complex on-site member concerns and supervising membership team members. Understand all aspects of the membership role and front desk responsibilities.
  • Provide front desk support as needed, building strong, positive relationships with members and team members.
  • Help the membership team achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) and other departmental goals.
  • Assist the Membership Director with complex member concerns, business operations, and team leadership.

Y Kids and Youth Programs:

  • Manage the daily operations of Y Kids, including staff scheduling, timecards, participant and caregiver interactions, program development, and special events as needed. Maintain a safe, clean space and build positive relationships with all participants, their families, and branch members.
  • Analyze data from Y Kids, including attendance trends, to make informed recommendations for staffing and program improvements.
  • Monitor data and the performance of all youth programs in the facility to support decision-making.
  • Communicate proactively and respectfully with caregivers and team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure Y Kids and youth team members complete all required training and provide equitable care and support to all children.
  • Support the Membership Director in developing and implementing new youth programs that engage families and strengthen the branch community.

General:

  • Participate in site, department, branch, and association events.
  • Respond positively to feedback and accept constructive guidance from supervisors.
  • Complete all required ADP LMS safety training and Y-USA e-Learning before the first scheduled shift.
  • Attend and/or lead team meetings and training sessions as required.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be available to work weekends and flexible hours to support program schedules; schedule will include at least one weekend day per week
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working directly with youth
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • YMCA-approved CPR/First Aid certification (required within 90 days of hire)
  • Ability to successfully pass a fingerprint-based background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of this role, with or without reasonable accommodations related to physical, visual, or auditory abilities. Fingerprints will be collected upon hire and submitted to the Association Office Human Resources Department prior to the first day of work.

Salary Description

The Associate Membership Director position offers a compensation range of $68,640 – $70,000 per year.This rate is based on salary benchmarking for similar roles and is aligned with grant fund approvals and requirements for the position.
