Travel: This position will require domestic travel up to 50%.

What's the role?

As an Applications Engineer, you will work with a talented team at Carl ZEISS IQS, showcasing your skills in process enhancement. You will assist our customers and sales team with pre- and post-sales application activities, including product demonstrations, proof of concepts (POC), and sales support. Post-sales, you will help customers understand and apply our hardware and software systems through demonstrations, support classes, phone, and on-site assistance. This consultative role requires professionalism and customer focus.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing technical consultation and support to customers and sales personnel regarding advanced applications and systems.
  2. Assisting with ZEISS Calypso/ZEISS Inspect programming as needed.
  3. Facilitating the flow and accuracy of technical information.
  4. Maintaining a focus on advanced applications and new ZEISS technology.
  5. Supporting projects using ZEISS systems such as CMM, VMM, & X-Ray/CT, including responding to customer and internal software/application support requests.
  6. Providing application expertise for project activities, analyzing inspection requirements, and performing Gage R&R studies.
  7. Supporting IT-related issues, including Windows OS, networking, and database management.

Qualifications include:
  1. A four-year degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related technical field is preferred; equivalent industry experience may suffice.
  2. Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret GD&T.
  3. Strong inspection or metrology skills with manufacturing industry experience.
  4. Proficiency with computer software and data analysis tools.
  5. Problem-solving skills and ability to learn independently.
  6. Experience with ZEISS Calypso Software and CMM programming is a plus.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Strong negotiation and reasoning skills for complex problems.
  9. Entrepreneurial mindset and eagerness to grow within ZEISS.

The annual salary range for this position is $59,000 - $100,000. Compensation may vary based on location, qualifications, and experience. The role is also eligible for performance bonuses or sales commissions, along with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and more.
