Job Title: Emergency Lighting Specialist

Reports To: Administrative Captain/Operations Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Emergency Lighting Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing security patrol vehicles, former Police Cruisers. The ideal candidate has a strong background in automotive or diesel mechanics, with specific knowledge of emergency vehicle systems, equipment, and lighting.Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on emergency vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain emergency vehicle equipment such as sirens, lights, radios, and on-board computers.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure all vehicles meet local, state, and federal compliance standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records, logs, and inspection reports.
  • Collaborate with departments to schedule vehicle downtime and prioritize urgent repairs.
  • Stay current with industry trends and technological advancements in emergency vehicle systems.Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (vocational training or ASE certification preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience as an automotive or emergency vehicle technician.
  • Working knowledge of gas and diesel engines, electrical systems, and emergency vehicle equipment.
  • EVT Certification (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe).
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred or may be required).
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in urgent situations.Preferred Qualifications:
  • ASE certifications (Automobile/Light Truck or Medium-Heavy Truck).
  • Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification levels I-III.
  • Experience with NFPA, DOT, and OSHA vehicle standards.
  • Familiarity with onboard diagnostic (OBD) tools and fleet management software.
Working Conditions:
This position may require working in various weather conditions, on-call hours, and occasional overtime. Physical demands include lifting heavy components, standing for long periods, and working in confined spaces.
