SUMMARY
Provide transportation for residents and delivery of laboratory work tohospitals, doctors' offices, mental healthcare centers, and other medicalfacilities to ensure continuity of care when in-house services are unavailable.Offer additional transportation services as requested by residents.
ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may beassigned.
•Conductsafety checks before vehicle use and promptly report issues to the Director ofRisk Management and Director of Maintenance
•Transportambulatory residents to medical appointments, providing assistance and care asneeded at hospitals and doctors' offices
•AssistSocial Service and Nursing staff in arranging transportation for non-ambulatoryresidents to ensure timely appointments
•Maintainan organized calendar of transportation appointments to ensure efficiency andprevent missed trips
•Retrievemedical supplies from Wayne Healthcare for the Nursing Department and deliverlab work and paperwork to Wayne Healthcare
•Transportresidents' dentures, eyeglasses, hearing aids, and other appliances for repair
•Participatein Brethren Retirement Community in-services and community workshops to stayinformed on transportation, long-term care, and gerontology topics
•Performadditional duties assigned by the Director to support department function andimprove resident care, such as assisting with hospital admissions
•Ensureresidents arrive on time for appointments, assisting staff from neighborhoodsunable to escort residents to pickup locations
•Exercisepatience and empathy when assisting frail or emotionally distressed residentscoping with illness and disability
SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATIONAND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required. Experience working with elderlypopulations in long-term care is preferred.
LANGUAGESKILLS
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenanceinstructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports andcorrespondence. Effective verbal communication skills with residents, staff,and groups.
MATHEMATICALSKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, tens, andhundreds. Capable of applying these operations to money, weight, volume, anddistance measurements.
REASONINGABILITY
Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but routine written or oralinstructions. Ability to handle problems involving a limited number ofvariables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES,LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Ohio driver's license with excellent driving record. Completion ofDefensive Driving Course required. STNA, First Aid, and CPR certifications aremandatory.
