Job Description Summary

The Lead CMM programmer will demonstrate leadership in supporting the plant CMM measurement needs, including program revision control. In this role, you will utilize your experience and expertise to solve CMM problems, develop and execute program objectives, and manage CMM program schedules.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and validate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) programs and calibrations used to support manufacturing efforts for GE Aviation Wilmington.
  2. Plan and specify CMM purchases necessary to inspect drawing and specification requirements.
  3. Manage CMM calibration responsibilities, including programming, calibration, measurement audit support, and program revision control, by coordinating the activities of the CMM staff.
  4. Coordinate CMM activities around program schedules, calibration, audit support, and software quality assurance controls.
  5. Ensure measurement accuracy of all CMM measurement systems.
  6. Conduct training in CMM inspection and programming as needed.
  7. Act as the plant expert and interface regarding CMM measurements.
  8. Implement methods for collecting and distributing information to improve quality.
  9. Administer the plant CMMs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and standards such as ISO.
  10. Read and interpret drawings and quality control requirements using GD&T and sound metrology principles.
  11. Ensure safe practices in compliance with governmental regulations.
  12. Collaborate with the Quality team to improve inspection processes.
  13. Drive lean manufacturing efforts focusing on quality.

Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years' experience in engineering or quality, plus 3 years of CMM programming experience including MODUS and PCDMIS, with experience in editing and controlling CMM program revisions for aviation hardware.
