Job Title: Dental Assistant

Experience: Completion of an approved Dental Assistant training program or one year of experience as a chairside Dental Assistant. Must have worked as a dental assistant in an advanced specialty within the last 5 years.
License: Certification by the State Board of Dentistry for Radiological Proficiency required.
Certifications: Current valid Basic Life Support (BLS) card required.
Must-Have:
- Skilled at exposing radiographs.
- Experience in sterilization of instruments.
Description:
This position supports the delivery of compassionate and ethical oral-facial health care.
The dental team fosters an environment of mutual respect and the free exchange of ideas.
Key responsibilities include providing chairside assistance to surgeons, residents, interns, and students.
The dental assistant will work within the team to address specific patient needs and educational instruction.
Assisting duties may include tissue retraction, suctioning, disinfecting treatment rooms, and surgical suites.
Responsibilities also include tray setup, breakdown, instrument sterilization, and exposure of radiographs.
Post-operative instructions need to be communicated effectively to patients.
The assistant will take impressions and pour models as necessary.
Organizing the workday according to the patient schedule is essential.
The assistant will be responsible for patient care during appointments.
Basic patient information and vital signs will need to be recorded.
Working with providers to enter treatment plans, consent, and manage patient records is part of the role.
Communication with the scheduling team for patient follow-ups is important.
Preparation of instruments for sterilization and disinfecting clinical rooms is required.
The assistant will seek out maintenance of equipment and instruments.
Assembling and organizing supplies and equipment is also necessary.
Managing and maintaining inventory of supplies and ordering as needed is a responsibility.
Cleaning, organizing, and stocking supplies in clinical areas is expected.
Administrative duties include assisting other dental assistants through training and guidance.
Teamwork initiatives will require filling in where needed and actively supporting others.
Communication with various teams such as schedulers and environmental services is essential.
Providing educational support to dental students in techniques is also a key responsibility.
Reinforcing aseptic techniques and efficient operatory setup will be part of the role.
Complying with all state and national regulations is required.
The ability to push, pull, lift, and carry heavy objects is necessary.
Candidates should be able to perform repetitive motions and remain standing for extended periods.
Wearing personal protective equipment as required for safety is mandatory.
