An innovative clean energy product group is seeking an Industrial Networking Engineer (Firmware Engineer) to help design and deploy scalable, resilient communications infrastructure for the next generation of distributed energy technologies. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with a world-class R&D team to build wide-area industrial IoT networks supporting advanced applications like solar + battery integration, EV charging, V2G, and grid-interactive systems.
You’ll take ownership of machine-to-machine (M2M) networking solutions that connect 100s to 1000s of devices in challenging field environments. From edge device telemetry to secure cloud integration, your work will form the backbone of intelligent, modular, and edge-compute-driven energy platforms.
Key focus areas:
- Architecting secure, scalable industrial IoT networks
- Developing embedded connectivity for real-time, distributed systems
- Designing robust online/offline device-to-cloud communication strategies
- Supporting OTA updates, remote monitoring, and cyber-physical security
- Working across firmware, hardware, and cloud teams
You bring:
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems, networking, or communications
- Expertise in microcontrollers, modems, gateways, and fieldbus protocols
- Familiarity with industrial standards (TCP/IP, Modbus, DNP3, BLE, Zigbee, LoRa, cellular, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with embedded Linux, wireless RF systems, and debugging tools
- A drive to solve complex challenges in clean tech and industrial automation
