Job Title: HOA Attorney
Location: Lakewood, CO
Position Overview:
A respected community association law firm is seeking an experienced HOA Attorney to join its Lakewood, Colorado office. This role focuses on providing legal counsel and transactional services to homeowner association (HOA) clients.
The attorney in this role will work closely with HOA boards and community managers, offering guidance on day-to-day governance, compliance, and policy matters. This is a client-facing role that requires strong legal writing, interpersonal communication, and independent judgment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviews and interprets association governing documents, statutes, contracts, insurance policies, and real estate-related materials to provide legal analysis and recommendations
- Drafts legal documents including governing documents, amendments, rules, contracts, opinion letters, easements, and licenses
- Conducts legal research and prepares clear, well-reasoned written memoranda and client advisories
- Provides regular legal counsel to HOA board members and community management staff
- Participates in negotiations and dispute resolution efforts as needed
- Attends board and annual meetings as appropriate (including evening hours)
- Participates in firm-led educational programs, marketing events, and business development initiatives
- Maintains consistent and timely attendance, meeting all internal deadlines and client expectations
Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice law in the state of Colorado
- Approximately 4–6 years of litigation and/or transactional legal experience in relevant practice areas
- Excellent analytical and legal research skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal professionals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and legal research platforms
- Experience with case management and billing software is preferred
Salary and Other Compensation :
The annual (salary/hourly rate) for this position is between $140000 – $150000 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
