Manufacturing Operations Manager

Our client is seeking a Manufacturing Operations Manager to lead their manufacturing and fabrication operations located just outside of Tampa, FL. This person will oversee all aspects of production, manage inventory and procurement, and ensure high-quality, spec-compliant fulfillment of internal orders. The ideal candidate has prior experience in road sign manufacturing, understands DOT specifications, and can confidently take ownership of operations with minimal onboarding. This is a direct hire opportunity.

Manufacturing Operations Manager Role:

Serve as the top leader for the shop division, reporting directly to executive leadership

Manage the production and fabrication operations

Interpret DOT signing plans and determine specifications, materials, and quantities needed

Process internal orders from operating branches and ensure timely fulfillment

Oversee procurement and negotiate pricing with vendors and suppliers

Manage relationships with suppliers and coordinate purchasing of sheet metal and other raw materials

Supervise inventory management, including tracking, distribution, and reorder processes

Organize and manage logistics for outbound deliveries to branch locations, using internal and contracted transportation

Ensure accurate rounding, cutting, and fabrication processes using in-house tools

Support shop staff, oversee daily activities, and drive accountability across operations

Ensure safety, compliance, and quality control throughout the production process

Identify areas for operational efficiency and continuous improvement

Deliver customer service excellence to internal stakeholders


Manufacturing Operations Manager Background Profile:

Direct experience in road sign manufacturing required — must understand DOT sign specifications, coding systems, and fabrication standards

Ability to interpret detailed signage plans and independently generate accurate production orders

Background in production operations, procurement, logistics, and inventory management

Strong understanding of sign shop tools and processes

Familiarity with materials such as sheet metal (various types), reflective sheeting, and hardware components (e.g., Z-bars)

Proven ability to lead and manage manufacturing teams in a hands-on environment

Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
