Base pay range

$85,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr

Position Title: Senior Cost Accountant

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficiency and compliance with internal controls
• Manage and monitor periodic inventory cycle counts and reconciliations
• Ensure accuracy of inventory records by analyzing and resolving discrepancies between system and physical counts
• Track and report on inventory trends, highlighting key changes or issues
• Support physical inventory counts across company locations
• Develop and maintain cost-related performance metrics, including material and labor standards
• Analyze standard cost variances in materials, labor, and overhead; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions
• Investigate data inconsistencies and propose process enhancements
• Calculate and review inventory reserves, including excess and obsolete (E&O) provisions
• Perform cost rollups and assess financial impacts on inventory valuation
• Assist in maintaining accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and production routings
• Review inventory-related general ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations as part of month-end close
• Contribute to the preparation of monthly and year-end financial reporting packages
• Support reporting and analysis related to labor and overhead absorption
• Provide audit support by delivering requested documentation and explanations
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in cost or inventory accounting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced level)
• Experience with ERP systems and cost accounting modules preferred
• Knowledge of GAAP and standard costing principles
