THE OPPORTUNITY:
As a Human Resources Generalist, you will report to the Regional Human Resources Director and will support the HR function in the Downtown Los Angeles office. You will operate in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment and serve as a point of contact for employees on process and procedures, and provide guidance on all aspects of the employee life cycle. Responsibilities include managing the onboarding and departure processes, handling leaves of absences, assisting with employee relations and performance matters, and working on team projects and initiatives. You will work closely with other departments including Recruiting, Benefits, Payroll and Talent Development.
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
Manages new hire orientation, onboarding, and staff integration process
Interprets and implements human resources policies and procedures for attorneys and staff
Supports all internal and external HR related inquiries or requests
Manages leaves of absences including STD, LTD and FMLA
Assists in providing guidance to supervisors regarding performance management and employee development, including counseling, coaching, and drafting warnings and performance improvement plans
Manages offboarding for both voluntary and involuntary terminations; conducts exit interviews
Maintains digital and paper records of employees
Work collaboratively with other departments including Staff Recruiting, Legal Recruiting, Compensation & Benefits, Payroll, HRIS, and Talent Development.
Processes HR documentation including personnel action forms, payroll forms and unemploymentclaims
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements and makes recommendations to current policies as necessary
Collaborates with the HR team to assist with the annual evaluation process and other team projects
YOU HAVE:
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
2-5 years of experience in HR within law firms or professional services supporting multiple offices. PHR, SHRM-CP, or Equivalent certificate preferred.
Previous experience in related field such as business administration or human resources, is preferred
Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
Demonstrates close attention to detail
Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality
Ability to handle multiple assignments and shifting priorities
Ability to organize and prioritize work
Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team
Demonstrates a commitment to quality of finished product
Ability to problem solve
Ability to use discretion and exercise independent and sound judgment

The salary range for this role is $83,000 to $93,000 annually, which is based on a 40-hour work week. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Los Angeles. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employees pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for an annual merit increase and bonus pay.
