POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports thework of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed tostrengthening the community through youth development, healthy living andsocial responsibility. Under the guidance and supervision of theChildcare Director, the Kitchen Assistant is responsible for assisting the cookin providing healthy meals in a clean, safe, enjoyable and positiveenvironment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES
The Kitchen Assistant isexpected to fulfill the following functions:

  • Assist in the preparation of food for the childcare program or other Y programs, meetings and events.
  • Prepare and serve breakfast, snacks and lunch in the youth center at meal times.
  • Daily kitchen clean up and sanitization.
  • Input & track milk program.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and methods for food preparation, cooking, thawing and storing.
  • Be prepared to step in as lead cook when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe and sanitary kitchen at all times following Wyoming Department of Health protocols to ensure the kitchen is ready for pop-in Health Inspections at any given time. (Sweeping, mopping, disinfecting sinks, stovetops, microwave, fridge, freezers, pantry)
  • Assist with menu planning and inputting on the computer.
  • Assist with grocery shopping (ordering, picking up, and organizing).
  • Clean up after meals in Youth Center.
In addition to the essentialduties and responsibilities, Kitchen Assistant will:
  • Pursue/participate in ongoing training.
  • Participate in the annual campaign by giving, campaigning or both.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Alarm/Emergency Procedures training within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter.
  • CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention training within 90 days of hire and biannually thereafter.
  • New Employee Orientation within 90 days of hire.
  • Be certified or have the ability to become certified in Safe Serve procedures.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICALDEMANDS
•Ability to perform all physical demands of theposition including leading classes, walking, standing, bending, reaching andlifting
