Position Overview: Bethany College is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to support the overall upkeep and functionality of all campus facilities. This position is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance duties, including general building repair, grounds upkeep, custodial support, and system maintenance across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural systems. The ideal candidate will be a versatile problem-solver with a strong work ethic and a commitment to safety and service.

Essential Responsibilities: Perform general maintenance and repair work across campus buildings, facilities, and equipment, including routine inspections and preventive maintenance. Complete tasks involving multiple skilled trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and custodial duties. Install, repair, and maintain building components such as doors, locks, hardware, flooring, ceilings, walls, and windows. Provide support for groundskeeping and exterior facility maintenance, including fountains, irrigation systems, and snow removal. Maintain and repair mechanical systems, boilers, and drainage systems; replace and service fixtures and appliances as needed. Conduct routine testing and maintenance on fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and other safety-related equipment. Assist with event setup, furniture moving, and emergency responses (e.g., storm cleanup or flooding mitigation). Maintain accurate records using the college's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS); ensure timely completion of work orders. Work with the Director of Facilities to manage supplies and equipment necessary for task completion, adhering to proper disposal protocols for used materials. Collaborate with other facilities staff, contractors, and campus departments to ensure timely and effective maintenance support. Uphold safety regulations and contribute to a culture of compliance with institutional safety standards. Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; vocational training or equivalent experience in maintenance trades preferred. Minimum 2-4 years of relevant maintenance or facilities experience, or a combination of education and experience. Valid driver's license required. Proficiency with tools and equipment associated with maintenance and repair work. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and schematics. Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities. Must be able to work independently, solve problems effectively, and provide high-quality service to a diverse campus community. Preferred Skills:

Working knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems. Familiarity with maintenance safety protocols and environmental regulations. Experience with lock systems, access control, and key fabrication. Work Environment:

Work is conducted both indoors (offices, classrooms, residence halls) and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Indoor tasks are performed in typical office conditions with standard lighting, temperature, and office equipment. Outdoor work involves exposure to a range of environmental factors including extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, smoke, strong odors, and loud noises. Periodic travel to additional off-site locations may be required. Requires a flexible schedule to respond to emergencies, weather-related incidents, or special campus events outside normal business hours. Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks including bending, stretching, twisting, and reaching both above shoulder height and below the waist. The employee must be Ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions Requires manual dexterity and coordination to operate machinery and tools.
