Position Summary
Program Coordinator, Disability Specialist aids and motivational support for students to develop strong, independent academic skills and positive lifelong learning. The Program Coordinator provides support in identifying and delivering appropriate accommodations to those in need with a focus on academic support in conjunction with faculty, staff, and administrators, supporting a diverse population by fostering a student-centered environment focused on academic excellence. Reporting to the Assistant Dean, the Office of Inclusive Learning and Accessibility Services is also responsible for the MSM’s access training and assists the department in other initiatives. This position is campus-based and is not eligible for full-time remote work. Infrequent travel may be required to collaborate with colleagues at other locations and to develop professional skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. Accessibility Experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university, 2-3 years of related experience in DEIA

Job Duties
Description of Job Duty
Advise students with disabilities of their rights and responsibilities and oversee the student accommodation request process, including interpreting all disability documentation and arranging for and ensuring the provision of reasonable accommodations.
Assist students with (and process requests for) medical leave of absence.
Coordinate processes related to managing all accommodation documentation submitted by students to ensure the utmost attention to confidentiality and other legal and ethical considerations. This task includes maintaining appropriate databases and document destruction processes.
Manage office administrative duties including but not limited to budget, vendor management and tracking, data reporting, website updates, and emails.
Partner with UME on cross-functional disability matters and strategies.
Coordinate and manage psycho-educational and disability-related partnerships administratively.
Contribute to decision-making committees when medical documentation is relevant.
Develop and train faculty, advisors, and others in the university community regarding policies and processes used in Accommodation Services and the management of medical documentation submitted by students for petitions or any other purpose.
Adhere to and keep current with ADA , Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Title IX, and other applicable best practices, laws, and regulations about accommodations and students with disabilities in higher education.
Make policy and procedure recommendations to the Assistant Dean per best practices.
Prepare communications, responses, and other written materials on behalf of Accommodation Services
Manage requests for accommodations at institutional events such as residencies and commencement.
Attend and support student functions and events, including assisting with advising. Active participant in the department’s strategic planning, budget planning, and innovation efforts.
Assists in informing students or students about policies and procedures for assisting students with disabilities.
Assists in coordinating and implementing accommodation plans and providing guidance in successfully executing academic accommodations.
Serves as a resource to students, faculty/staff, and community for disability-related information.
Assists in coordinating all office activities and performs other duties as assigned.
Collaborates with Disability Services to develop and implement new initiatives to enhance and support student success.
Collaborates with Disability Services to coordinate and implement outreach programming on disability-related topics for student learners.
Collaborates with Disability Services to create awareness presentations related to disability services and career services for faculty, staff, and MSM student learners.
Coordinates the logistics for all departmental training and training for university and community partners
Assist students with accessing on-campus and off-campus resources.
Maintains confidential records and stays committed to diversity in an educational environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines.
Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
