About the Role

We are seeking a

Senior System Administrator - Network Security

to support our federal government customer. The Senior Security Administrator will be the Security Team lead and provide security services and support for the government customers' network, as well as policy compliance support for the Division.

This is a hybrid remote position based in Suitland, Maryland, that will require some onsite work at the customer's location. This position is contingent on contract award.

Responsibilities

Creating or updating security infrastructure and

Continually monitoring networks for unauthorized access or suspicious activities.

Work with company staff members to help them stay connected and keep their work devices secure while they are online.

Design and operate a training program, Service Level Agreements (SLA's), and Standard Operating Procedures which helps employees understand cybersecurity measures and best practice

Install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.

Perform system backups and recovery.

Maintain data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.

Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Provide IT Security support to the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) and System Owner (SO) working closely with System Administrators and other security staff within the USCB.

Support ISSO with continuous monitoring and risk-profiling activities.

Create and package evidence and artifacts for TCO-managed components for OIS review.

Design, install, configure, maintain, administer policy and services, monitor, document, manage, and perform reviews and problem resolution for firewall solution based on NIST guidance and Agency Security Policy that incorporates single and/or multiple firewalls.

Design, install, configure, maintain, administer policy and services, monitor, document, manage, and perform reviews and problem resolution for Content Filtering solutions that include Web Security Gateways and Email Security Gateways, based of NIST guidance and Agency Information Technology Security Policy.

Design, install, configure, maintain, administer policy and services, monitor, document, manage, and perform reviews and problem resolution for Network Access Control solution that is based on the most recent version of NIST guidance 800-53 and Census Information Technology Security Policy.

Performs a variety of IT-related tasks.

Requirements

Required Experience and Skills

Minimum 8 years of experience in IT security for federal agencies.

Experience being a team lead or managing/directing others.

Extensive knowledge of NIST 800-53, FISMA, and federal IT security standards.

Familiarity with Remedy, Splunk and SolarWinds.

Experience and expertise in using the Gigamon toolset

Proficient with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the IT security field.

Experience managing systems for a federal government agency.

Experience with network security, including firewall, VPN, and IDS/IPS management.

Ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to pass required Federal background screening/security check, including basic and expanded investigations. Ability to obtain and maintain both government clearance and customer approval.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Education and Training

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.

Professional Certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), CCNA Security, CCNP Security, Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA), Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP), CCIE Security, Cisco IronPort Web Security Appliance (WSA), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), or Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) Certifications., or similar certifications, highly desired.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must reside in or within commutable distance of Suitland, Maryland.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Pay Range

The projected annual salary range for this position is $125,000-$156,000 USD. Please note that the salary information listed is a good-faith estimate for this position and a general guideline only. Multiple factors are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant work experience, skills, education, certifications, and competencies that align with the specified role, geographic location, as well as business considerations and contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
