The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers research opportunities for scientists to engage in NASA projects at NASA Centers, Headquarters, or affiliated institutes. These fellowships last from one to three years and aim to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, and related fields. Research Focus

This opportunity is closed to applicants who are Senior Fellows (more than 5 years post-PhD). The project involves using hyperspectral infrared satellite radiance data within the GEOS data assimilation system to improve atmospheric models. Proposals should focus on: Assimilation of radiance data from new instruments like IASI-NG, MTG-IRS, and enhancements to CrIS algorithms. Applying machine learning methods to address model biases. Doctoral degree in Physics, Mathematics, Meteorology, or related fields, or equivalent research experience. At least one year of relevant work experience.
