Responsibilities
This hospital-based position collaborates with medical, surgical, emergency, and social work services to address complex medical and behavioral health needs at Virginia Mason Medical Center. Responsibilities include providing care for patients experiencing delirium, mood, psychotic, anxiety, substance use, and somatic symptom disorders, among others. The Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry service also works closely with patients under the Involuntary Treatment Act with Single Bed Certification. Psychiatrists in this role play a key part in educating clinical teams about behavioral health, including involvement in multiple residency programs. The position emphasizes teamwork with physicians, advanced practitioners, trainees, nurses, social workers, and other health professionals, fostering a rewarding collaborative environment.
Schedule/Call
The consult psychiatry team operates weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm, with no current overnight or weekend duties, as these are covered by an external telepsychiatry service.
Qualifications
- BE/BC Psychiatrist, with fellowship training and BC/BE in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry preferred
- Ability to obtain a medical license in Washington State
- Ability to obtain DEA license with prescriptive authority for practice needs
