Job Overview

Under direction of the Vice President, Human Resources, leads the HR Business Partner (HRBP) and Employee Relations functions to include setting strategic direction for each function, aligning individual performance goals, providing general guidance, and coaching to direct reports. Ensures that HRBP and Employee Relations work is aligned with Airport’s strategic goals. Monitors team’s performance to service level agreements (SLA), investigates misses to published SLAs, and addresses root causes. Through HR Business Partners and peer relationships, maintains the pulse of internal customers to ensure HR is delivering the appropriate level of service to the business. Provides consultation and support in all aspects of Human Resources (HR) including employee relations, talent management, total rewards, employee engagement, organizational development, and workforce diversity and inclusion.

What You Will Be Doing

Leads, motivates, and develops a team of HR professionals to provide strategic and tactical support for People initiatives and programs in support of organizational objectives. Analyzes trends and develops proactive interventions for employee relations and engagement issues. Oversees and provides guidance to HRBP and Employee Relations team members through sensitive issues while ensuring confidentiality and fairness to all parties involved. Coaches business unit managers and supervisors on all aspects of HR with an emphasis on positive employee engagement, and proper response to employee issues. Serves as a partner to identify organizational and departmental needs; works with other HR leaders to address development needs and skill gaps in the workforce. Coordinates the Ethics Hotline for Airport; responds to and assigns issues raised by employees and management. Conducts research of new and pending legislation and laws relating to HR programs; ensures that the Airport’s HR-related and employment practices are compliant with federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines. Drives proactive employee relations through trend analysis and works with other leaders to develop mitigation strategies. Guides HRBPs in the facilitation of HR initiatives including goal setting, performance reviews, salary planning, talent assessments, succession planning, and employee engagement. Supervises investigations and makes recommendations to leadership to resolve general, harassment, and discrimination complaints. Responds to inquiries from EEOC and TCHR. Performs other related duties as assigned.

What You Need

Bachelor's degree or equivalent with significant coursework in human resources, business, public administration, or a related field. Six (6) plus years of experience as a strategic HR Business Partner. Degree requirement may be substituted by increasingly responsible, professional-level HR experience on a year-for-year basis.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Knowledge of current human resources rules, regulations, laws, principles, practices, and policies related to administration of all aspects of human resources (i.e., Employee Relations, Staffing, Learning and Development, Compensation and Benefits). Business acumen with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn key drivers of success. Knowledge of activities required to compile and maintain detailed documentation and records regarding human resources programs. Skill in investigating complaints in compliance with EEOC guidelines. Skill in conflict resolution/negotiating activities to resolve complaints and business issues. Ability to understand and interpret current Airport policies, practices, and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization, and to establish rapport with people of diverse backgrounds and training. Ability to provide guidance and counsel to management and leadership staff. Ability to organize and coordinate multiple tasks, differentiate among competing demands, and deal with ambiguity. Ability to conduct research and analyze and interpret data to make and implement recommendations. Ability to work with the public and other employees in a pleasant and tactful manner. Ability to manage and develop a staff of professionals.

What We Desire

SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, or SHRM-CP Certification. Master’s degree in business or public administration, human resources management, or a related field.
