The Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for shaping and amplifying the organization’s brand through strategic marketing and effective communications. This role manages digital and traditional marketing initiatives, drives audience engagement, and ensures consistent messaging that reflects the organization’s mission. The coordinator will work closely with internal teams, community partners, and media outlets to promote programs, events, and impact stories. Position Overview
The Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for shaping and amplifying the organization’s brand through strategic marketing and effective communications. This role manages digital and traditional marketing initiatives, drives audience engagement, and ensures consistent messaging that reflects the organization’s mission. The coordinator will work closely with internal teams, community partners, and media outlets to promote programs, events, and impact stories.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Content Strategy
Develop and execute marketing campaigns that increase awareness, participation, and support for the organization’s initiatives. Manage direction of the content calendars for email, social media, and web communications. Oversee the creation of marketing materials, including flyers, presentations, media kits, and newsletters. Collaborate with Marketing Performance Manager to track marketing analytics and prepare reports to measure campaign effectiveness. Manage the organization’s website (WordPress), ensuring timely updates and engaging content.
Communications & Public Relations
Draft press releases, media statements, and success stories to highlight organizational impact. Maintain relationships with media outlets, community stakeholders, and sponsors. Ensure consistent branding across all communication channels. Assist with preparation and promotion of events, sponsorship campaigns, and fundraising initiatives.
Internal & External Engagement
Support internal communications to ensure staff alignment with messaging and goals. Assist in cultivating partnerships by providing marketing support and co-branded content. Collaborate with program staff to capture and share stories that demonstrate outcomes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field. 2–4 years of experience in marketing and communications (nonprofit experience preferred). Proficient in social media management, email marketing platforms, and content management systems. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills. Knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, CapCut) is desired. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects. Passion for community engagement and mission-driven work
