Corporate Senior Staff Accountant

Corporate Senior Staff Accountant Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago partners with mission-driven individuals and organizations across Cook and Lake counties to promote mercy and hope by improving lives, nourishing spirits, and empowering communities through faith-based initiatives. Job Responsibilities Provide comprehensive accounting support by reviewing and validating expenditures, preparing journal entries, deposits, and billings, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Conduct financial analysis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Prepare financial reports and projections, communicating findings to support decision-making. Lead month-end reconciliation of revenue, receivables, and bank accounts, investigating discrepancies and ensuring record integrity. Assist in audit preparations by gathering documentation and responding to inquiries, strengthening internal controls. Collaborate with departments and external partners to resolve accounting issues and support operational improvements. Physical and Other Requirements Kneeling, moving, standing, and climbing stairs as needed. Push/pull objects up to 25 pounds, lift up to 25 pounds. Compliance with background checks, health screenings, driver’s license, and insurance requirements. Supervision Reports to: Corporate Controller. No direct or indirect supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; 2-4 years of relevant experience; proficiency in ERP and MS Office. Preferred: Master’s degree; 4-6 years of experience; advanced skills in pivot tables and Power BI; CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
