Senior Underwriter

Position Summary : The Senior Underwriter is responsible for executing underwriting strategies, balancing profit, pricing, and production objectives within a team environment. Strong sales behaviors and technical expertise are essential for leveraging underwriting experience in professional liability markets. The Underwriter's goal is to profitably grow our professional liability book, provide industry-leading customer value, and foster a 'strive for excellence' environment. All activities aim to establish Hudson as the provider of choice in these product lines. Essential Functions : Work within the business unit to underwrite risks across various Professional Liability classes, including Technology E&O, Cyber, Internet Liability, Media Professional, Miscellaneous Professional Liability, and Manufacturers’ E&O. Develop a portfolio aligned with departmental goals of profitable growth across all lines. Collaborate with Wholesale brokers and retail relationships to source business focusing on growth and profitability. Partner with management to identify production sources, market opportunities, and industry trends. Analyze risks and establish a profitable portfolio, managing underwriting exposure and pricing strategies in line with company objectives. Assist in identifying and developing new products and niche markets. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities : Proven client development experience Strong analytical skills Effective negotiation skills Problem-solving abilities Marketing expertise Excellent oral and written communication skills Deep knowledge of the professional liability marketplace, especially cyber/technology Self-motivated and results-oriented Ability to work independently and as part of a team Capability to support other Professional Liability underwriters with product and underwriting expertise Strong technical knowledge High ethical standards Ability to execute strategies effectively Education / Experience : 7 to 10 years of underwriting experience, with at least 5 years in cyber/tech Product development experience is highly desirable
