USAL Summary
The Sr. Manager, Risk Management under the leadership of the President, USAL will provide essential and high quality risk services to all associates. The Sr. Manager will provide leadership for developing and implementing a Risk Management strategy, and creating standards for safety, quality, training, and risk management for the organization. This position will collaborate with the President and other functional leaders as appropriate to ensure safety standards for the compliance program are administered properly. The Sr. Manager will govern the Emergency Response Plans as well as create initiatives to ensure environmental compliance. Essential Responsibilities
(List in order of importance) Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Risk Management strategy for the business. This includes but is not limited to activities like driver training, federal and state regulatory compliance, cargo securement, event recorder management, etc. Leads the organization in all aspects of Risk Management. Leverage technology and data to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of all organizational risk management programs and processes Effectively leads and develops a team in support of the organization’s risk management efforts. Work with all management and HR to ensure that all employees receive required regulatory compliance training, general safety training and job specific safety training. Support the new hire orientation process or other training related needs and oversee the Driver Training Program. Monitor accident investigation programs, Emergency Response Plans. Interface with external, including emergency services, and internal personnel to investigate and determine the root cause of incidents; recommend corrective action and follow up to ensure action is taken. Ensure that all claims and accidents are properly investigated and reported timely. Administration of FMCSA/DOT guidelines as related to Fleet Safety and Tractor Trailer equipment. Responsible for OSHA and FMCSA/DOT/State and Federal compliance programs Analyze and provide cost control recommendations related to workers’ compensation claims administration and the return to work program. Lead all Business Continuity efforts for the business. At the direction of the corporate legal team, acts on the company’s behalf on all litigation cases related to risk management activities. Interfaces with OEM’s, dealerships, rail/port, etc. on all risk management related activities, i.e. unsafe parking arrangements, unsafe delivery hours, etc. Develop, implement, and maintain all programs and processes centered around associate safety Ensure organization is compliant with all environmental regulations. Direct Safety & Compliance initiatives, annually or as needed. Informs and educates fleet operations management and drivers on FMCSR regulations, including Driver’s Record of Duty Status (Daily Log), pre-trip reporting, and the Driver’s Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR). Collaborates with fleet operations management and interacts with Driver Training Manager to recommend and create programs to keep drivers up to date. Interacts with drivers and coaches them accordingly. Partners with both fleet operations management and driving associates to ensure compliance with USAL damage and incident/accident reporting procedures. Provides training to drivers one-on-one communications and periodic memos. Proactively analyzes data and communications key findings to cross functional stakeholders regarding damage / accident / safety ratios. Identifies and promote ways to enhance driver performance to meet necessary standards. Continuously evaluate proper standards for driver performance measurement and recommend/drive changes, if applicable, through senior management. Responsibly receive, transmit, and handle consumer and customer data per applicable policies and procedures. Review and follow data privacy practices, policies, and guidelines. Other duties as assigned.

Directly supervises one or more employees. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; 8 to 10 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and transportation industry experience. Industry specific continuing education required. DOT/OSHA experience required at a motor carrier.
