Single hand welder needed in Abilene TxBenefits and retirementPurpose: Raises, places, and unites girders, columns, and other structural-steel members to form completedstructures or structure frameworks.Work Schedule: Varies by location. Must have open availability any time any day of the week. Length ofemployment is limited to job assignment and/or project duration.Essential Skills (may include but are not limited to the ability to:)•Secure components together applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machiningweld shrinkage, and welding techniques.•Assemble component layouts by applying knowledge of geometry, physical metal properties and weldshrinkage.•Must be able to bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to position for welding.•Prepare material for welding by cutting or grinding using pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch,and/or grinder.•Set material in stands, racks, hoists, etc. for welding.•Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc or gas welding equipment.•Repair products by dismantling, straightening and reshaping.•Reassemble parts using cutting torch, straightening press and hand tools.•Reads and understands plans, isometrics, arrangement drawings, details, specifications, erectionmanuals, and/or blueprints and makes decisions based on measurable criteria.•Visualizes objects in three-dimensions from plans and drawings.•Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy.•Follow oral and written directions.•Work within company policy as outlined in the Samuel EPC Craft Handbook and maintaincompliance with both the Samuel EPC Human Resources Policy Manual and the Samuel EPCSafety Manual.•Perform other duties as assigned by the foreman/supervisor as needed.Essential Qualifications•Three (3) years minimum Field experience in trade•Know all properties of various types of metal and how heat affects them.•Completion of welding certification administered by Samuel EPC.•Ability to work with others to achieve job goals•Read, write and communicate using the English language sufficient to perform job functions(other preferences will be given for special language skills where there is a business need)Job Description: Structural WelderAlternative Titles: Single Process WelderPage 2 of 2Job Description:Structural Welder Rev.0, 6-3-21Physical Requirements•Stand or walk for long periods of time•Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects•Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 poundswith assistance•Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects•Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl•See well (naturally or with correction)•Eye-hand coordination•Good physical fitness•Good sense of balance•Work at great heightsTool Requirements•Steel toed work boots•25' Steel Tape Measure•Welding hood with hard hat attachment•Sleeves or appropriate clothing for stick welding•Leather welding gloves•Electrode holder•Lineman pliers•Flashlight•Inspection mirror•Allen wrenches to 3/8"•12" Adjustable wrench•File and brush•Cold chisel•Chipping hammer•Spud wrench•Line up bar•Toolbox with Lock•Raincoat or ponchoEnvironment: Construction Workers perform physically demanding work including lifting and carrying heavyobjects, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling in awkward positions. Some work at great heights, oroutdoors in all weather conditions. With some projects, work exposure to harmful/hazardous materials,chemicals, fumes, odors, lead-based paints, asbestos, loud noise, or dangerous machinery may exist. Toavoid injury, workers in these jobs wear safety clothing, such as gloves, hardhats, protective chemicalsuits, and devices to protect their eyes, respiratory system, or hearing. While working in undergroundand/or confined spaces, Construction Workers must be especially alert to safely follow procedures andmust deal with a variety of hazards.
