All facilities honor active compact licenses. Candidates must have a minimum of 4 years of experience. First-time travelers will not be accepted for this unit. Attendance every other weekend and holidays is necessary. Floater roles may require movement to postpartum and antepartum areas. Patient diagnoses include midwifery clients and those supported in substance recovery. Experience with electronic fetal monitoring is valued. Staffing will follow AWHONN guidelines. Candidates must circulate and provide newborn care, including assessments and injections. The average daily census is 15, with 500-600 deliveries per month. The unit consists of 31 beds and 31 rooms. Scheduling is done every 6 weeks to meet unit needs. Candidates must demonstrate high-risk experience and the ability to work in fast-paced environments. Backup to assist in the care of newborns until transfer to appropriate units is required. Candidates must demonstrate skills with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, as well as postpartum care. Special equipment and procedures related to high-risk labor and delivery must be understood. Candidates must have stable transportation for shifts. Housing arrangements should be made prior to accepting the position. All compliance-related items must be completed promptly.
