Staff includes day shift labor nurses, nursery nurses, OB techs, secretaries, leadership, and educators. Night shift labor nurses, nursery nurses, OB techs, and secretaries are also part of the staff. Patient ratios are 1:1 for labor, 5-6:1 for postpartum, and 5-6:1 for nursery. Typical equipment used includes GE fetal monitors and Meditech EMR. Typical procedures performed in this unit consist of vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and care for antepartum patients, newborns, and postpartum. Weekend shifts require working every third weekend with 12 hours of call every 4 weeks.
