Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: Minimum 2 years required; first timers accepted License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Experience in Progressive Care Unit or similar settings - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment - Strong team collaboration skills Description: Patients are admitted to the unit via direct admission from clinics, physician offices, urgent care, or via emergency room admission. The patient population consists of adults to geriatrics, including those with intermediate-level medical and surgical conditions. Common diagnoses include dysrhythmias, congestive heart failure, acute onset stroke or stroke symptoms not requiring TPA or critical care, and acute coronary syndrome or myocardial ischemia. The unit operates in a fast-paced environment focused on patient throughput while providing patient-centered care. All patients are monitored with hardwire telemetry and are self-monitored by the nurse. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4 with a total of 12 beds in the unit. The unit utilizes electronic health record systems for patient management. Interdisciplinary support is available, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams. Nurses in this unit must possess skills in blood product administration, central line care/management, interpretation of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions, management of cardiac drips (no titration), and non-invasive airway management. Nurses are expected to be available to work major holidays that occur during their assignment period. If two major holidays occur, nurses are expected to work both, and if three holidays occur, they will work two of the three.
