Pay Information $2,002 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Able to read cardiac monitor Able to give narcotics Description: The unit has 18 beds and 38 total staff members. During the day shift, there are 5 RNs, 1 Clinical Coordinator, and 2 Patient Care Technicians. The night shift consists of 5 nurses and 1 Patient Care Technician. The patient ratio is 4:1. Equipment includes central lines, PCA, Foley catheters, chest tubes, pacer wires, telemetry, and drains. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech. Most recruited skills include: - A strong ability to read cardiac monitors - Competence in administering narcotics. Preferred skills include: - Stepdown experience - Cardiac knowledge. Typical procedures performed in this unit include: - CABG - Valve replacement - TAVR - Mitral clip - Thoracotomy - Atrial fibrillation - Congestive heart failure - Myocardial infarction - Administration of cardiac drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, and nitroglycerin. Unit guidelines and policies include: - Vital signs and assessments every 4 hours - Rhythm interpretation every 4 hours.
