We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer with deep expertise in healthcare billing, reimbursement, and revenue cycle systems to develop intelligent tools and automation that support our end-to-end billing operations. This role involves working at the intersection of machine learning, healthcare operations, and financial optimization. You will collaborate with our Billing, RCM, Data Engineering, and Compliance teams to identify automation opportunities, build production-grade models, and deliver ML-powered insights to reduce denials, maximize collections, and improve operational efficiency. Responsibilities include developing AI/ML models for denial prediction, claim prioritization, and payer behavior analysis; utilizing NLP and OCR to extract data from unstructured inputs; building automated pipelines for accounts receivable monitoring and exception reporting; supporting CPT/ICD-10 coding accuracy improvements; creating dashboards for reimbursement forecasting and compliance auditing; ensuring HIPAA compliance in data handling; and contributing to automation efforts across the billing cycle. Must-have qualifications include 5+ years of AI/ML engineering experience in healthcare or related fields, proficiency in Python, SQL, and ML libraries, experience with OCR/NLP tools, a track record of building ML pipelines, understanding of revenue cycle metrics, experience working with EHR, clearinghouses, or payer data, and knowledge of HIPAA and data privacy/security best practices. Preferred qualifications include experience with medical billing platforms, familiarity with financial forecasting and payer reimbursement models, a background in bioinformatics or clinical operations, and advanced degrees in relevant fields.
