Engineering Support Technician III

Salary Range: N/A Position Salary: 4,563.00 USD Monthly Location: Department of Public Works Engineering Civil Service or Non Civil Service: Civil Service Job Summary: Under general supervision, performs a variety of complex sub-professional, technical work in general support of professional engineering activities; may supervise and participate in the activities of a small group of lower level technicians and engineering aids; and performs other related duties as required. Examples of Duties: Performs a variety of complex sub-professional, technical work in general support of professional engineering activities such as compiling statistics and making cost and volumetric computations to be used in planning and engineering studies; reviews, analyzes and approves water service connection applications, public facilities clearance forms; determines consistency of projects with environmental assessment and policy guidelines; conducts tests and inspections of a variety of construction materials and processes for conformance to specifications and plans; recommends changes on acceptability of construction materials and processes, changes in procedures and operational methods, etc.; works closely with professional personnel in research and development projects, requiring follow through by the incumbent; operates a CAD/CAM system or serves as network administrator in support of engineering operations; may supervise lower level technicians and engineering aids. Minimum Qualifications: Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school and four (4) years of specialized work experience. Qualifying Specialized Work Experience: Work experience in one or a combination of the engineering-oriented support functions such as inspection, testing, designing, surveying, drafting, and construction, which required the knowledge of engineering terminology and the ability to use mathematical skills in the solution of engineering-support or engineering problems. License Requirement: Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license (Hawaii type 3 or equivalent).
