Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) offers devices and therapies to treat abnormal heart rhythms, as well as cardiac diagnostic and monitoring solutions. This position reports into the CRM R&D Materials Engineering group. The individual will serve as a materials expert with an emphasis on polymers and pharmacokinetics by participating in technical activities for materials selection, processing, analysis, biostability, and process-property-performance relationships for medical devices. Additionally, the individual will serve as a combination specialist with an emphasis on polymers and pharmacological applications, pharmacokinetics, and drug elution. This position is in Mounds View, MN. within the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Operating Unit. In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Principal Materials Engineer role. This includes, but is not limited to the following: Possesses proven expertise in the following business-critical skill sets: Pharmacokinetics and drug elution Materials Characterization Familiarity with test method validation and associated analytical test requirements Familiarity with regulatory requirements around bioavailability and bioequivalence. Experience with compendial guidance's including ICH, USP/EP, and 21CFR Part 211/212 and Part 820 Understanding of basic pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics principles (AUC, tmax, Cmax, t1/2) Coordinates and conducts laboratory work and data analysis to drive data-driven technical decisions in your discipline. Experience with drug discovery and formulation development for device led combination products Hands on experience designing benchtop testing and preclinical studies. Possess' an understanding of requirements for a GLP preclinical study Ability to integrate product development and characterization testing into quality system and design controls. Familiarity with requirements around Design Verification and Design Validation. Qualifications

Must Have - Minimum Requirements TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE, PLEASE BE SURE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME Bachelor's degree in in chemistry, material science, chemical engineering, polymer science, or related technical field Minimum of 7 years of technical work experience in Engineering, Science, or advanced degree in Engineering, Science with 5 years of technical experience. Nice to Have Expertise in materials with the ability to identify and develop testing methods, correlate material properties with product performance, and predict various failure modes. Knowledge of external standards, e.g., ASTM and ISO and their use, limitations, and applications. Demonstrated ability to apply skills and knowledge of technical/operational theories and principles to resolve real-world biomaterials challenges. Demonstrated ability to deliver quality technical work within project schedules and timelines. Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$132,800.00 - $199,200.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
