Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as the Executive Director, IT Project Management Office (PMO) responsible for leading and managing the functions and teams of the IT PMO, the Office of Technology Change Management and the IT Business Office. The Executive Director, IT PMO will be accountable to drive all IT related projects and programs to successful completion, as measured by completion on time, within budget, and delivery of full defined scope. The Executive Director will responsible for creating, recruiting, retaining, developing, mentoring, and inspiring a team of high performing project and change management SMEs and leaders. The Executive Director, IT PMO will provide critical thinking, keen discernment, sound judgement, and timely, effective decision making. The Executive Director will be a thought leader on the best project and change management practices, processes, and activities to focus the IT PMO and Office of Technology Change Management teams to achieve and deliver results in support of UCMC strategic priorities. An innovative and collaborative technology leader with: Ten to fifteen years in an IT mid-level to senior leadership, in roles with increasing levels of responsibility, accountability and organizational impact Five to eight years experience managing people who lead and manage others Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications In-depth understanding of project management methodologies in clinical and research settings Deep experience understanding and applying successful techniques that demonstrate an ability to build and inspire high performing teams Work history exhibiting an ability to successfully interact, support, partner and align with executives and cross-functional teams across the clinical and research enterprises to ensure project and program objectives are achieved and outcomes and value are delivered Demonstrated success leading the management of large clinical and research projects with the ability to define, communicate, and implement the defined project scope Proven success working in a matrix organization influencing stakeholders across multiple business units and all levels of management Ability to model practical process orientation with a focus on delivery over process Excellent skills in identifying and implementing best practices Ability to lead and direct others, promote a positive work environment, and solve complex projects and challenges with creative and innovative approaches. Incredibly strong work ethic and self-sufficient and self-motivating tendencies Proven track record of building, supporting, and empowering teams Superior communication skills with a demonstrated executive presence Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively under tight deadlines and high-pressure situations Strong and effective administrative skills High level of organization and the ability to effectively prioritize work to deliver high output and significant, impactful results. What you'll do as the Executive Director, IT Project Management Office: Recruit, staff, lead, manage, develop, and mentor the IT PMO teams and the Office of Technology Change Management to plan, execute and deliver project and programs with a consistent, effective, high-quality results and significant business value realization. Staff, lead, manage, and mentors the IT Business Office to ensure proper, accurate, effective and timely management and oversight of IT capital and operating expense planning, budget tracking, reporting and management. Envision and implement creative approaches to ensure outstanding IT fiscal stewardship. Lead and guide management of all aspects of all IT and technology related projects and programs to achieve deliver on schedule, within budget and delivery of defined scope. Model strong accountability throughout the organization for participation in and success of clinical and research project delivery. Ensure effective risk management for all IT and technology related projects and programs. Evaluate and provide strategic guidance and direction on cross-project interdependencies Actively participate in UCMC and IT governance to ensure strong project and program results and outcomes. Responsible for leading the function of managing capital and operating budgets for IT. Facilitate governance meetings and discussions as appropriate. Serve as initial point of escalation and resolve project risks, issues, and key decisions Manage the prioritization of in-flight efforts to ensure successful project and program delivery. Evaluate the impact of new projects on the current project roadmap, including sequencing and resource needs as necessary. Evaluate and continuously improve the effectiveness of lean program management methodology, policies, processes, standards, tools, techniques, and templates. Ensure staff across IT are adhering to the UCMC IT Project Management Lifecycle (PMLC). Exhibit the highest level of fiscal stewardship, sounds ethics, and ability to excel within defined policy. Serve as a member of the IT Executive Leadership Team. Create, develop, and foster collaborative relationships and partnerships across the UCMC enterprise, from the senior executive level and clinical leadership to front line knowledge workers, subject matter experts and staff.
