Loudoun County Government is currently seeking a building inspections field supervisor to supervise the daily activities of building field inspectors. This position is responsible for conducting field inspections of commercial and residential structures for compliance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC) and local ordinances. The duties and responsibilities of this position include: Direct management of up to 6 employees. Supervising the assignment and successful completion of all assigned field inspections. Maintaining strict compliance with inspection time limitations. Assigning the daily inspections workload. Conducting residential and commercial inspections. Maintaining a high level of problem-solving skills. Managing and evaluating the performance of the building inspections staff. Attending all mandatory training and ensuring required certifications are current. Proactively providing technical information to owners, contractors, architects, and the public. Responding to all phone inquiries the same day received. Communicating professionally with other staff members and customers. Backing up project managers on FOIA and LeX requests. Managing staff performance for adherence to all applicable policies and procedures. Promoting staff growth and professional development. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, excellent leadership and supervisory skills, support continuous learning, provide great customer service and foster a team environment. The ideal candidate can solve problems and resolve conflicts with minimal supervision and will have a working knowledge of policies and regulations surrounding building code regulations. The ideal candidate will be organized, team oriented, dependable, flexible, efficient, self-motivated, an active listener, and possess strong interpersonal skills. Hiring salary is commensurate with experience. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (technical coursework in building construction preferred); six (6) years of related work experience in the building construction trade including commercial and residential experience dealing with the public which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Job Contingencies and Special Requirements
Valid driver's license and good driving record. Pass criminal and DMV background checks. Must become certified by the Virginia State Department of Housing and Community Development as a Residential & Commercial Building Inspector within (6) months of starting employment and maintain the required certifications in accordance with Virginia Certification Standards.
