Term-Limited Assistant Product Owner / Project Manager I
Salary: $71,544.00 - $85,992.00 Annually Location: Denver, CO Job Type: Full Time This position is only open to Colorado state residents. This is a term-limited position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027, contingent upon funding. This position is eligible for full benefits. The Assistant Product Owner (APO) plays a key support role on Colorado's statewide eProcurement system project. This individual works closely with the Lead Product Owner (PO) and represents the PO during the development and implementation of the Colorado eProcurement system. The position will coordinate cross-agency activities particularly with the Office of Information Technology (OIT), manage project coordination and planning activities, manage requirements and documentation, engage with stakeholders, and other partners as needed, ensure timely and transparent communication about the project to a wide audience, assist in an agile environment during product development, and support continual process and project improvement. This position is vital in helping the project stay organized, on budget, on schedule, and responsive to user needs and vendor accountability. The APO will have a strong grasp of project management as well as state business strategy, needs, mission, workflows and solution impact. Class Code & Classification Description: H1K2XXPROJECT MANAGER I Minimum Qualifications: Experience Only: At least seven (7) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position OR Education and Experience: A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to at least seven (7) years The exceptional candidate will possess the proven ability or accomplishment in the following preferred qualifications: Previous State Service related to the work assigned to the position Experience with Agile/Scrum or traditional project management approaches. Strong familiarity with tools such as Azure DevOps, Google suite, calendars Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a detail-oriented mindset. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate across a wide audience of stakeholders and cross-agency partners. Experience with procurement workflows or eProcurement platforms. Understanding of public sector or government IT acquisition practices. Experience supporting testing, vendor management, or contract performance tracking. Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), or other project/product-related certifications Conditions of Employment: A pre-employment criminal background check will be conducted as part of the selection process. Comparative Analysis Process: The comparative analysis process for this position may consist of a structured application review, an online assessment or other structured assessment step. Appeal Rights: An applicant who has been removed from an employment list or removed from consideration during the selection process may request a review by the State Personnel Director.
