VP Of Accounting And Financial Reporting

Job Summary The VP of Accounting and Financial Reporting is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting, and implementing scalable financial processes to support the company's continued growth. This role demands a dynamic leader with deep expertise in accounting principles, technical accounting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance, particularly in the healthcare industry. The VP will serve as a key liaison with external auditors, ensuring full compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), auditing standards, and applicable healthcare regulations. In partnership with the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO) and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), this role provides high-level strategic support while also managing the execution of daily financial operations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership across all accounting functions to support the company's operational and financial objectives. Collaborate closely with the CFAO and Executive Leadership Team to ensure alignment between financial strategies and broader organizational goals. Oversee the full accounting cycle, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Procurement, Fixed Assets, and Revenue/Claims Accounting. Manage and continuously improve the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to deadlines. Ensure integrity in financial reporting, with a strong focus on compliance with US GAAP and applicable healthcare industry standards. Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, managing the annual audit process and ensuring readiness and transparency. Govern and maintain all financial policies, procedures, and internal control systems to support compliance and risk mitigation. Collaborate with the FP&A team to align financial reporting with forecasts, budgets, and long-range planning efforts. Drive continuous process improvement and automation initiatives to scale financial operations efficiently. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, with a focus on coaching, professional development, and succession planning. Effectively manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Education & Experience Minimum of 15 years of progressive accounting experience , with demonstrated leadership in a complex and dynamic organization. Proven experience in value-based care, primary care, or health insurance accounting, with deep knowledge of revenue recognition and medical claims financial accounting. Familiarity with CMS programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, and ACO REACH is highly preferred. Bachelor's degree required; a degree in accounting is strongly preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Proficiencies Expertise in US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal control frameworks. Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and inspire high-performing teams. Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience delivering financial insights to executive stakeholders and Boards of Directors. Proven ability to manage deadlines, competing priorities, and cross-functional collaboration in a high-growth or regulated environment. Physical Requirements This position works under usual office conditions. The associate is required to work at a personal computer as well as be on the phone for extended periods of time. Must be able to stand, sit, walk and occasionally climb. The incumbent must be able to work extended and flexible hours and weekends as needed. Physical demands include ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
