The team is looking for a results-oriented Director, Quality and Operational Excellence to support our growth. The position will be based in Middlefield, CT and will be responsible for leading Zygo Navitar quality, supplier quality, lean, and continuous improvement efforts. Key Responsibilities : Build lean culture of continuous improvement. Act as a key leader in the organization, role modeling Zygo values. Partner with manufacturing to identify areas of opportunity Critical to Success in the Role : Leadership Accountability for quality and continuous improvement across all Zygo Navitar sites Champion the "safety-first" mindset, striving to reach the goal of no reportable safety incidents or "near misses." Propagate key operational metrics and goals throughout the organization Instill in the culture the behaviors and tools necessary to drive ongoing continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, problem-solving, and the development of future leadership. Lead and develop a team of professionals. Quality Lead, along with your team, quality assurance and control activities across the business. Partner with engineering and product managers with quality requirements of new product development activities, customer quality approvals and audits, and production support. Drive business unit performance through management of the cost of non-conformances, first pass yield, scrap, etc. Lead supplier assessments, qualifications, and performance management. Operational Excellence Drive a metric and results-based operational culture across the business. With support of leadership, build a change strategy to drive improvement across all areas, building change agents to support in all functions. Regularly report and drive continual improvement of key performance metrics such as safety, quality, on-time delivery, cost, inventory, and capacity. Improve manufacturing processes and plant capacity optimization across the enterprise, employ advanced planning and manufacturing methods and models, identifying and eliminating production bottlenecks impacting operations. Required Skills and Competencies: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field. Advanced degree in operations or business desired. 10 years of progressive experience in a key leadership/management role, managing multi-site, cross-functional teams. Previous experience/best practices implementing change and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc. to drive improvement. Six Sigma Black Belt a plus. Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, product development and supply chain/supplier quality. Excellent planning and organizational skills Demonstrated leadership, team building and coaching skills. Excellent interpersonal communication and listening abilities. Adaptability, flexibility and resiliency Strong analytical and decision-making skills Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment Highly motivated, results oriented, and driven.
