Medical Assistant
Henry Ford Health System's internal staffing resource pool, designed to ensure there is sufficient staffing throughout our health system. The department is a proactive solution to unplanned or short-term staffing needs due to vacations, call-offs, leave of absences, increases in census or acuity. Medical Assistants will float to various Henry Ford clinics to provide coverage. Minimum commitment is 2 days per week with opportunities to work up to a full schedule. Must be flexible on location and clinic. Hours are primarily Monday through Friday, 8 hour shifts. Occasional weekend opportunities (optional) with pay differential. Under direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients. These duties include the greeting and escorting of patients to the exam room; taking medical histories, the measurement and recording of vital signs; preparing patients for the examination/procedure; and assisting the physician during the examination/procedure. Demonstrates clinical competence as a Medical Assistant. Education/Experience Required:
Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum). With a minimum of one year continuous work as Medical Assistant with verifiable clinical experience OR Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years. OR Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting. OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). OR Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience. OR Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years. Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care. Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills. Successful completion of HFMG pharmacology class and test. Certifications/Licensures Required:
Current BLS (American Heart Association) certificate. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred. Shift: Variable
