Capital Projects Field Coordinator

The Orange County Asset Management Services Department has an opening for a Capital Projects Field Coordinator. The work involves the primary responsibility for monitoring the construction of projects to ensure completion within approved schedules, adherence to the design drawings and specifications, to regulatory, environmental, and health and safety requirements. The work involves providing clear and effective communication and coordination between Orange County, the design team, maintenance, environmental services, and outside contractors. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Capital Projects Manager with considerable leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work, and in making decisions regarding customer needs. Supervision of others is not required of this position; however, is required to oversee the work performed by contractors. Position does related work as required. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from High School or possession of a General Educational Development (GED) test equivalency AND four (4) years of experience performing construction coordination work which includes inspections, supervision of construction trades, and the use of software packages for report processing and spreadsheets AND one (1) year of experience supervising others. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined above. A higher degree does not substitute for work experience. Special Requirements: Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
