What this job involves - As member of the JLL Life Sciences HSSE team, our HSSE Director will be accountable for providing HSSE expertise at client sites, overseeing account strategy, and supporting JLL HSSE professionals assigned to client sites. The most important objective of this role will be ensuring that our employees and sub-contractors assigned to client sites return home safely at the end of their workday. This will require a sustained reduction of incidents and injury rates across the account. Every day is different, and in all these activities, we encourage team members to show their ingenuity. What is the day to day? Coordinate the implementation of HSSE monitoring procedures that ensure the timely internal management reporting of performance. Assist the Sourcing and Procurement (S&P) team in approving and monitoring JLL Contractors. Meet operational objectives as specified by the relevant business leaders. Have a pragmatic and cost-effective approach to HSSE management. Identify conclusions or approaches to problems including strengths and weaknesses of existing systems and alternative solutions Manage HSSE team members operating on the client account, both direct reporting, matrix reporting relationships. Support IFM's goals of alignment to ISO14001 & ISO45001 Standards. Ensure the delivery an HSSE training program based on the JLL HSSE training model and which is compliant with all local requirements in the division. Manage the relationships between business functions and employees who operate within the account. Provide guidance and advice on health and safety risk management at all levels in the assigned account. Ensure client sites meet JLL Global HSSE Standards. Keep abreast of legislation advice and to alert the account HSSE Lead to such changes that will impact on the business. As directed, produce and update policy proposals and procedural amendments reflecting changes in legislation, best practice or advice. Assist with investigations into specific incidents or accidents with a health & safety and/or environmental consequence and ensure appropriate records are maintained. Support work teams, to secure operational HSSE compliance, including providing support for HSSE audits and inspections as required. Support staff with the completion of HSSE risk assessments and the identification of appropriate control solutions. Ensure the ownership of HSSE is driven into the operations teams and supply chain partners responsible for delivering services Secure the development of a positive, proactive HSSE culture at all levels throughout the account. Establish effective relationships and work closely and co-operatively with business leaders, senior managers, account teams, JLL employees, the client and our supply chain. Identify, organize and attend appropriate HSSE communication forums. Any other duties deemed appropriate to the role as determined by the Americas Work Dynamics HSSE Lead, Life Sciences HSSE Lead and/or other senior directors. Required Qualifications: Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to deal with all people at all organizational levels, internally and externally. Ability to work unsupervised and take positive action to resolve issues on own initiative. Ability to demonstrate initiative and show foresight in relation to existing and potential problems. Computer literate with a knowledge of commonly used software programs, including Microsoft Office applications. 10+ years of proven history of implementation of environmental, health and safety systems and processes. Relevant HSSE experience in a similar environment (e.g. Property Services, Facilities Management, Construction, HSSE enforcement or consultancy). Must be willing and able to travel internally as deemed necessary to fulfil the role up to 40% Preferred Qualifications: Experience in manufacturing environments with a strong understanding of industry-specific HSSE challenges, regulatory requirements, and implementation of safety protocols within production settings Professional certification in safety management (CSP, CMIOSH, or equivalent) Estimated total compensation for this position: 145,440.00
