driven, resourceful, and digitally savvy Assignment Editor

to join our award-winning newsroom. This is your chance to be at the heart of one of the most dynamic news environments in the country. As an Assignment Editor, you'll be the engine behind our daily news operation

tracking developing stories, coordinating crews, and ensuring our coverage is fast, accurate, and impactful

. You'll work closely with reporters, producers, photographers, and newsroom leadership to shape compelling content across all platforms. What You'll Do: Monitor breaking news and emerging stories across multiple platforms Assign and dispatch field crews with precision and urgency Cultivate a deep network of sources across the Bay Area Conduct beat checks with public safety agencies and local officials Book high-impact guests for live and recorded segments Perform background research and database searches to support storytelling Write and publish content for NBC Bay Area's digital and social platforms Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: Minimum 2 year of experience as an Assignment Editor or in a similar newsroom role Strong editorial judgment and a nose for news Excellent computer and digital research skills Willingness to work flexible hours, including overnights, weekends, and holidays Exceptional writing, communication, and organizational skills Eligibility Requirements: Must apply via nbcunicareers.com Must be willing to work on-site in San Jose, CA Must have unrestricted work authorization in the U.S. Must be at least 18 years old Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license Preferred Qualifications: We're looking for someone who is: A proactive communicator
