IONM CNIM Specialist I-III
Charleston, South Carolina The Certified Intraoperative Neuromonitoring Specialist II of the Clinical Neurophysiology Services Department reports to the IONM Coordinator. The IONM Specialist records by means of electronic equipment, neurophysiologic potentials for the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases and conditions involving the nervous system. The IONM Specialist II must demonstrate competence and work under indirect supervision of the IONM Specialist III, IONM Coordinator or physician who must be immediately available for assistance during all procedures. A bachelor's degree in a health science; or an associate's degree with one or more neurodiagnostic registries (R. EEG, R. EP, R. NCS); or completion of a Electroneurodiagnostic (END) program that is CAAHEP accredited and one or more neurodiagnostic registries (R. EEG, R. EP, R. NCS) required. Must have a Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) and a minimum of 1 year experience in Intraoperative monitoring and competency in performing multi-modality complex Intraoperative monitoring including BAERs, complex scoliosis, carotid endarterectomy, and MVD. Must take call. May require working irregular hours under stressful conditions, rotating shifts, and weekends. Employee must possess considerable knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy; ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of complex therapeutic procedures; and ability to make accurate physical observations of patients. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
