Position: Mechanical Construction Superintendent

Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Construction Superintendent to lead field execution of mechanical systems on large-scale data center construction projects. You will oversee daily on-site activities related to HVAC, chilled water, air distribution, and other mechanical infrastructure, ensuring quality, safety, and schedule performance in support of high-reliability operations. Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Mechanical Execution Direct and supervise mechanical subcontractors on the installation of HVAC systems, chilled water piping, ductwork, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, and mechanical equipment. Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with construction documents, project specifications, and mechanical codes. Coordinate with trade partners and general contractor teams to support integrated construction workflows. Scheduling & Coordination Develop and maintain mechanical lookahead schedules, ensuring alignment with project milestones and MEP sequencing. Identify schedule risks early and coordinate solutions to maintain overall project progress. Work closely with electrical and controls teams to coordinate mechanical system startup, testing, and integration. Quality Control & Commissioning Support Perform field inspections to verify proper installation, system layout, and performance readiness. Ensure compliance with QA/QC standards and support the commissioning process, including functional performance testing and punch list resolution. Assist with turnover documentation and ensure mechanical systems meet commissioning and owner expectations. Safety & Compliance Enforce mechanical safety practices including confined space, rigging, lifting operations, and hot work protocols. Conduct toolbox talks, participate in job hazard analyses (JHAs), and collaborate with EHS teams to maintain a safe jobsite. Verify subcontractor compliance with all project-specific safety requirements. Documentation & Communication Maintain detailed daily reports, track site activity and workforce hours, and document issues and resolutions. Review and coordinate RFIs, field directives, and submittal updates related to mechanical scope. Communicate regularly with project leadership on progress, field conditions, and resource needs. Qualifications
Required Qualifications: 710+ years of mechanical construction experience with at least 3 years in a superintendent or supervisory role. Experience working on data center, industrial, healthcare, semiconductor, or other mission-critical projects with complex mechanical infrastructure. Strong understanding of HVAC systems, chilled water distribution, hydronic systems, airflow management, and related components. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and coordination plans. Preferred Qualifications: OSHA 30 certification or equivalent mechanical safety training. Experience with commissioning support and mechanical system turnover. Proficiency with digital tools such as BIM 360, Bluebeam, and scheduling software. Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, energy efficiency practices, and high-reliability cooling system design. Personal Attributes: Strong field presence and ability to lead by example in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
