Lyon College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. The appointment may be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, depending on the successful candidate's established record of excellence in teaching, research, and service. The position will begin in August 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, growing institution committed to developing an entrepreneurial focus in the current business and economics curriculum, inspiring curiosity, and fostering critical and deep thinking in a liberal arts environment. The salary range is $55,000 to $65,000, depending on a candidate's experience. Qualifications: Ph.D. in cognitive studies or a closely related sub-discipline (ABD will be considered). Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level is highly preferred. Successful candidates should have a desire to work at a small liberal arts college as well as familiarity with and enthusiasm for liberal arts education. A commitment to liberal arts education is essential. A strong commitment to student advising and mentorship. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A record of or potential for scholarly activity and professional engagement in the field. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will: Engage in a 21 load-hour (3/4) teaching schedule and teach in-person courses needed by the discipline, division, and college, which may include introductory and advanced courses in cognitive psychology and related areas. and possibly other related courses in the candidate's areas of expertise. Contribute to the College's robust academic culture by engaging in appropriate scholarly activity and, where possible, involving and mentoring students in that agenda. Other support to students may include advising or co-advising student clubs or advising teams in student competitions. Participate in departmental and college-wide service activities, including committee work, advising psychology majors; and appropriate recruiting, curricular development, and assessment efforts. Engage in service beyond the campus.
