Iredell County Animal Services is the only municipally ran shelter in Iredell County tasked to provide various animal welfare related services to both the citizens and animals residing within the county. Some of the services include taking in owned animals for numerous reasons, receiving strays, providing protective custody assistance and other animal welfare assistance as required. In a given year, we can take in upwards of 4,000 animals. In addition, ICAS works to ensure that all animals entering into their care receive the best possible outcome, based on each individual animal and circumstance. The ICAS Volunteer Program's main purpose is to assist Shelter Staff in providing care for the animals while they are housed at the shelter. ICAS Volunteers provide this assistance by performing various tasks and duties assigned to numerous positions throughout the shelter. Some of those duties include providing animal care and enrichment, assisting with promotions and events, performing administrative duties, educating the public on the numerous services ICAS provides, along with sharing the goals and mission of ICAS with the citizens of Iredell County and surrounding communities. All volunteers are trained by senior volunteers/animal care staff/other staff in all positions they are eligible to perform. No volunteer should attempt to perform any task without first being properly trained. Examples of Duties
