Inbound Quality Control Inspector

The Inbound Quality Control (QC) Inspector safeguards product quality and customer satisfaction by performing detailed inspections of incoming products in alignment with corporate specifications. This includes assessing assembly integrity, packaging compliance, and overall product condition. Inspectors gather inspection data, capture photographs, document results, and communicate findings to the appropriate stakeholders. While QC provides detailed inspection findings and recommendations, final product disposition decisions (e.g., acceptance, rejection, or rework approval) are made by the Quality Assurance (QA) team in accordance with corporate quality standards. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Conduct thorough inspections of various styles of furniture and accessories to verify compliance with corporate specifications, aesthetic standards, and functional requirements. Reject or hold items that fail to meet specifications and cannot be brought into compliance through approved repair or touch-up methods. Document recurring quality issues by supplier, product category, or SKU, utilizing standardized incident reporting forms. Accurately capture inspection data, photographs, and detailed notes to ensure traceability and effective root cause analysis. Provide inspection results and recommendations to QA, recognizing that final product disposition and approval decisions fall within QA's authority. Prepare inspected items for safe movement and storage, ensuring packaging integrity to prevent damage during internal handling and downstream processes. Adhere to established QC procedures, safety standards, and Supply Chain attendance/timekeeping policies. Execute inspection workflows under the direction of Inspector Leads or Supervisors to meet daily operational timelines and throughput goals. Ability to stand for extended periods during inspection activities. Perform repetitive motions as part of the inspection process. Safely move, lift, or maneuver furniture and accessories - often exceeding 175 lbs. - using approved team lift techniques, dollies, pallet jacks, or other mechanical aids. No more than 2 mistakes per 100 items inspected. Clearly describe defects in reports so QA can take the right action. Defect Notification & Trend Reporting
Notify QA immediately when a defect is found, following the established SOP. For recurring issues (same supplier/product/problem), ensure full documentation and reporting to QA within 48 hours of detection. Reporting Timeliness: Failed inspection reports: distribute within 24 hours. Pass with condition reports: distribute within 48 hours. Passed inspection reports: distribute within 72 hours. Compliance
Adhere to 100% of established QC procedures, safety standards, and attendance policies. Collaboration
Maintain effective communication and collaboration with QA, Sourcing, and PD teams on all escalated issues. Requirements: Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Experience: 1 - 2 years of quality control, inspection, or warehouse operations preferred. Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and digital photo documentation tools. Familiarity with warehousing and distribution practices, including order picking, packing, and shipping procedures. Flexibility: Willingness to adjust schedule/hours to support departmental needs.
