This position will be responsible for performing a range of services key to the success of students and the efficient and effective operation of the TRIO Student Support Services Program. The primary function of the position will be to coordinate and deliver programs and services related to retention and graduation to ensure the department meets established retention and graduation objectives. Extensive student interaction and advising is required. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, responsible, and self-motivated with demonstrated ability to multi-task and to perform tasks independently. 1. Works closely with the director of Student Support Services in developing, arranging for provision of, and evaluating programs, services, and activities to program participants. Assists in recruiting, interviewing, evaluating and selecting SSS program participants. 2. Academic Support Services Designs individualized Student Success Plans, tracks student progress, and advises students of available college and community resources. Plans, develops, and presents workshops, seminars and educational and cultural events for program participants and/or campus community. 3. Assists in updating participant files on a regular basis and maintain student records as required by federal regulations. 4. Assists Director in data collection required for federal and MnSCU reports. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Sociology, Education or closely related field At least one-year experience teaching or working in student affairs in higher ed Experience serving multi-cultural populations Experience in academic advising college students Excellent one-on-one communication skills Preferred Qualification Master's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Sociology, Education or closely related field At least one-year experience academic advising or counseling college students TRIO experience or individual with a background similar to our TRIO population (first generation, low income, and students with disabilities) Other Requirements South Central College is unable to sponsor applicants for work visas. All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Work Shift (Hours / Days of work) Monday - Thursday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 20 Hours per week Located on the Faribault Campus This is a seasonal part-time position that works each year during the 10 months of the academic year.
