Job Description
The purpose of this Nonexempt Job Class is to comply with Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations for positions that do not meet the Exempt FLSA test. That is, the position would have been Exempt, but is required to be Nonexempt because the weekly salary does not meet FLSA criteria established for the salary minimum threshold and/or the employee in the position will not be paid on a salary basis. USE OF THIS JOB CLASS IS RESTRICTED TO POSITIONS AT LESS THAN 100% FTE, CONTINGENT CATEGORY I AND CONTINGENT CATEGORY II, AS DETERMINED BY THE INSTITUTION, WHICH CAN NOT BE ACCOMMODATED IN AN EXISTING EXEMPT STATUS JOB CLASS DUE TO FLSA REGULATIONS.
Director of Beall Institute for Public Affairs
Frostburg State University (FSU) is seeking a part-time, contractual (C1) Director of the Beall Institute for Public Affairs, which was established to promote civic responsibility engagement and increase knowledge of government affairs and the political process at all levels. The Institutes primary goal is to prepare FSU students for active participation and leadership roles in public affairs and establish effective careers as managers, planners and policy analysts in the public sector.
Responsibilities: To accomplish these goals, the Executive Director will manage and help lead the Board of Directors to develop and support policies, programs and initiatives to advance the goals of the Institute. Included in the work of the Executive Director will be the identification and establishment of a variety of internship opportunities for FSU students in appropriate settings, such as legislative offices, executive branch departments, municipal and county governments, corporate government relations operations, and lobbying firms. The Executive Director will also partner with the Office of Civic Engagement to develop, secure funding and program speakers or presenters, and offer to FSU and the wider community timely and appropriate workshops, seminars, symposiums, debates, and other public forums furthering the goals of the Institute to promote civic responsibility engagement and increased knowledge of public affairs and the political
process.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
