Job Description
nThe Automation & Controls Specialist is accountable for the promotion, sale and support of automation equipment and works on a variety of automation projects, as a team member with our technical resources team. This position interacts with clients to understand automation requirements and transform them into effective solutions.

- Build relationships with customers, manufacturers, and automation integrators. n
- Perform detailed product demonstrations so customer can clearly see value and features. n
- Leverage key relationships as needed to identify emerging needs and solutions. n
- Determine market segments, identify key target accounts, and execute a strategic sales plan for those accounts. n
- Identify customer needs, propose solutions, and close orders. n
- Promote Summit’s value added services in addition to products in competitive situations. n
- Identify project sales opportunities. n
- Transform product and service sales opportunities into system sales opportunities when appropriate (Motion Control, VFD’s, Engineered Services, and other automation products). n
- Effective listening, communication, negotiation, and consensus-building skills. n
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- n
- Technical background in the electrical industry. Degree in the technical field from an accredited institution or equivalent experience. n
- 3 years in the electrical industry with experience in sales. n
- Strong computer skills. n
- Ability to identify and demonstrate technology solutions for customer applications. n
- Familiar with process control hardware and software including PLCs, HMIs, Industrial Ethernet Networks, SCADA, and Historian. n
- Presentation skills for both groups and individuals at all levels of customer organization. n
- Experience managing complex technical sales process with long sales cycles. n
- Strong drive for results and self-motivated. n
Nice-to-Have Experience:

- Previous sales experience in an industrial environment with demonstrated ability to develop/drive new business. n
- PLC programming experience. n
- SCADA experience n
- Telemetry experience. n
- Variable Frequency Drive experience. n
- Experience with ERP Systems, preferably SAP. n
