Salam-Tak is seeking an experienced, highly organized, and client-focused Catering Event Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of exceptional Kosher catered events. The ideal candidate will be a meticulous planner, a strong leader, and possess excellent communication skills to ensure seamless operations from initial client consultation to post-event wrap-up. This role is crucial to maintaining our reputation for excellence and driving client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
* Client Relationship Management:
* Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, understanding their vision, needs, and budget for each event.
* Develop customized catering proposals, menus, and service plans that align with client expectations and company capabilities.
* Conduct site visits, tastings, and regular communication to ensure client satisfaction throughout the planning process.
* Event Planning & Logistics:
* Oversee all logistical aspects of events, including venue setup, equipment rental, décor, audiovisual needs, and transportation.
* Collaborate closely with the culinary team to ensure menu accuracy, food quality, and flawless presentation.
* Negotiate and manage contracts with external vendors (e.g., florists, entertainment, rental companies).
* Create detailed event timelines, production schedules, and floor plans.
* Team Leadership & Management:
* Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise catering staff (servers, bartenders, kitchen support) for each event.
* Provide clear direction, motivation, and support to the event team, ensuring high standards of service delivery.
* Conduct pre-event briefings and post-event debriefs with staff.
* Financial Management:
* Develop and manage event budgets, track expenses, and ensure profitability targets are met.
* Process invoices, manage billing, and maintain accurate financial records for all events.
* Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
* Operations & Quality Control:
* Ensure all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations are strictly adhered to.
* Oversee efficient setup, service flow, and breakdown of event spaces.
* Problem-solve effectively and professionally during events to address any unforeseen challenges.
* Conduct post-event evaluations to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, Event Planning, Culinary Arts, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
* 3-5+ years of progressive experience in catering management, event planning, or a similar role within the hospitality industry.
* Proven track record of successfully planning and executing a variety of events (e.g., corporate, social, weddings).
* Strong understanding of food and beverage operations, including menu development and service standards.
* Exceptional organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
* Outstanding written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
* Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
* Proficiency in event management software Toast and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules.
* Knowledge of local Los Angeles venues and vendors is a plus.
* Valid California Driver's License and reliable transportation.
* ServSafe Manager Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
