Our mission is to serve over 100M Americans, empowering them to lead healthier lives through nutrition. Our meals are crafted with organic, responsibly sourced ingredients, free from additives and preservatives, supporting patients with conditions like high cholesterol, hypertension, PCOS, prediabetes, and Type 2 diabetes. Our clients reported significant health improvements, reinforcing the importance of nutrition in managing chronic disease. We are rapidly expanding our services, enabled by a Medicaid program ensuring our meals are covered by insurance for at-risk clients (10x growth in weekly meals cooked in 3 months).
Job Description
We seek a Lead Chef in New York, NY, to prepare our medically tailored meals, optimize kitchen operations, and develop delicious, healthy new recipes. The role involves collaborating with our founder, registered dietitian and kitchen team to ensure meals meet strict nutritional guidelines while maintaining exceptional taste.
Responsibilities: Below is a non-exhaustive list of the responsibilities of the lead chef. These responsibilities may evolve as the service scales.
- Design weekly and monthly menus with the registered dietitian for clients
- Lead kitchen team in cooking exceptional medically tailored meals at scale, while maintaining nutritional requirements and quality
- Manage ingredient ordering, food costing, and inventory weekly to improve profitability
- Optimize physical kitchen space to enable efficient, high-volume cooking
- Design new menu items in collaboration with the registered dietitian
Strategy and Innovation Opportunities: As a new business, the lead chef will work closely with the founder to develop our core offerings and design tailored meal plans, with opportunities to:
- Shape long-term strategy for nationwide food-as-medicine initiatives
- Develop and refine menus and recipes across cuisines and cultural preferences
- Connect with local suppliers and distributors
- Build partnerships with community organizations, health practitioners, and insurance companies to expand access to meals
Required Experience:
- Sous or executive chef in a food service business (restaurant or meal delivery) with management experience
- Menu and food costing optimization, with a track record of prudent cost management
- Strong communication skills & attention-to-detail, while modeling a high bar for excellence and quality for team members
- Self-starter with rapid decision-making ability in limited information environments
- Ability to manage stress individually and across kitchen staff under tight timelines
- Willingness to share feedback, criticisms, and new ideas openly with team members
Location: Manhattan, NY
Compensation: $60,000 - $80,000 + equity (Full-time role)
